Response of Coffee Husk Biochar on Growth of Faba Bean on Nitisol and Soil Nutrients

Soil fertility depletion and the associated soil acidity has become a serious problem to crop production in most highlands of Ethiopia. Fortunately, such problems can be reclaimed by application biochar as amendments which sequestered for several years. A pot experiment was conducted investigate effects on growth response nutrient uptake faba bean nutrients. The design employed randomized complete block with four replications. Collected Composite from (0-20 cm) depths at different distance zigzag pattern prepared, analyzed before conducting after harvesting following standard laboratory procedures. Prepared samples were collected Jimma University collage agricultural veterinary medicine. parameters includes: Trace Metals using DTPA extraction, macronutrient 1 N ammonium acetate (pH =7) extraction. Dry ashing method used determine plant samples. treatments included control, recommended inorganic phosphorus fertilizer (RPF), 10 t h -1 coffee husk (CHB) + RPF ,20 - CHB+ RPF,10 CHB+50% RPF,20 RPF, lime+ lime+50% RPF,50% lime+RPF+10 CHB 50% RPF+10 CHB. studied data subjected analysis variance treatment means compared 0.05 probability level list significant difference test. results revealed that significantly improved content. highest values chemical total nitrogen, available exchangeable cations obtained 20 t/ha Likewise, performance including height, leaf number, chlorophyll content, nodulation root shoot biomass, N, P K recorded biochar-amended soil.
